Water Catastrophe!

So this morning at about 5 I woke up to some serious dripping. Coming from my bathroom ceiling! It was in an awkward place so I could only put a bowl up there... and ended up staying awake all night emptying it. :( Well, that's alright. I ended up making doodles about it!

First it came through here...

And I was really worried! (click for animation!)

And then it started coming out here too!

I was getting sleepy but if I went to bed it would surely flood!

Finally maintenance shows up and tells me it was all 'cos my upstairs neighbor clogged his toilet.

It was a really easy one and he even had a plunger! But he just went to work without trying to fix it >:[ Stupid neighbor.

So, yeah. Eventful morning XD

Hey there! It's been awhile. I guess it seems like I'm dead... but I'm not really! I've been postin' junk on twitter and also tumblr too! Just... forgot to put it here :F Well, here is a Megaman I drew for the Design-A-Character challenge! We just had to re-imagine him :)

Of course I chose 1950's space boy-bot :)

Hullo, hullo! I hope you had a fantastic Christmas (slash holiday?) and a Happy New Year, too! I sure did :)

It was great! PRETTY FRIGGIN' GREAT! And the music's super cool too. That's why I drew us as Daft Punk! Cos they did the music! But you knew that already, didn't you. Man. Just... man. Words cannot describe! Let's just say it was like... the most visually awesome thing I've seen in a long time. AND THAT'S SAYIN' QUITE A BIT! I wanna see it again! Maybe I will! But not now, later!

Robot Acquired!

Hi, hi! I hope you're having a nice December! Cos, after today, I definitely am! Sure, sure, I've got a bit of awesomeness planned for my actual birthday but I think today was the solid start of it. Super solid. SO SOLID. Why? 'Cos I totally prized an awesome robot from the gift swap at work today! It was one of those where you could steal gifts, too, so I feel even more victorious!

Look at him! A Vacuum-bot! HE'S SO GREAT! He will clean up all my messes...

Or maybe just my buttons.

I d'no what to name him yet but, in the meantime, he sits proudly 'pon my desk in a Robo-stack of his very own! :D

With more robots as his backdrop! So mighty! So epic!

Gosh, I love robots. Well... I guess I'll figure out a name now!

Super Super Star

Hello, hello! I don't have a whole lot to say... but I did doodle a doodle from one of my most favorite games of all time: Kirby Super Star! It's for the SNES and so great!

That is Kirby with his plasma ability. The best ability. THE BEST.

:) Things are going very good, by the way. Friend- and work-wise! Kirby's pretty happy about it, if you couldn't tell. I hope things are going very good for you guys, too!

A Toady Toadette!

Halloween has happened! I was going to be Toadette this year...

Yay, yay, hooray! A glasses-less me!

It woulda been suuuuuper cute! "Woulda been" I say. It almost was! However, my super cheap (but bright purple!) sewing machine broke so stupendously as I was trying to make it. :( I stayed up so late and worked so hard too! But! Just when I thought everything was lookin' mega bleak, a really awesome co-worker named Eric swooped in last minute and bailed me out! He is a wizard with a needle! So fast! He saved me from my no-costume misery!

So I drew him this picture to thank him :)

Funnily enough, it was also his birthday today! So it doubled as a birthday present. And everything worked out. More or less lol I mean, we never REALLY super 100% finished it in time for the party... and I couldn't go to the party anyway... but! Crisis averted!

Anyway, besides that I'm just really busy with work and trying to get hired. Wish me luck! I reeeeeally need it right now lol

Hip Hop Hooray!

Oh snap! Blogging! Yes... I'm getting used to the workiness of it all and thusly decided to write something! Hip, hop, hooray! (That was a typo but I'm keeping it... especially 'cos it goes with what this post is all about: MUSIC! I even made it the title. Har.)

Anyway~ a while ago, Naka, my most faithfulest reader, asked what kind of music I like. I promised I'd answer! So... um, I like all sorts! But I'm kinda picky... I just like what I like, I guess? I'm really into things with a bit of chiptune (that's 8-bit, or old video game sounding stuff) in it right now... Here's an example:

Ah, my favoritest of true 8-bit. Well, if any song has a bit of beep boop in it, I tend to like it a little more. But I also like other stuff! Like, Disney songs, Korean hip-hop, old school R&B, movie scores/musical soundtracks, some techno, jazz, bossanova... and random artists from different genres, too! Tenacious D, Janelle Monae, RJD2, Gorillaz, the Cardigans, N.E.R.D., most things Katamari Damacy... It's just a lot... and pretty varied. The Scott Pilgrim soundtrack is quite awesome, actually! I think it may be on repeat for a while... Once I get it, that is! >(

My Job is Awesome

Sorry that I haven't been posting... It's just, by the time I get home, I'm all drawed out! I draw all day y'know. Did you know? Maybe. Well, it's a lot! And I can't show you any of it 'cos that'd be leaking stuff (I think). Fashion is a very secretive industry! Everything's done a year in advance. If other competing companies see what you'll be doing then they'll totally steal it. Totally! Still, it's an awesome job. Wanna know why? Let's take a gander at this diagram:

The Zoo! Again!

So... Work is going well. I'm still on database duty but only for one more day! I actually don't mind though. Some people hate it... but as long as I keep thinking of it as helping everyone out I'm fine! Also, I hafta have some music to listen to! My trainer seems to like me :) so that's good, too!

Now then... let's go back in time... to an era... before I moved! During this time (of a few weeks ago) I went to the zoo! With my good buddy Octorox, of course. I have pictures! But I can't show them all right now. Gotta get ready for work tomorrow! It's late enough as it is... so here's a teaser!

Of all the things we wanted to see, the elephants were on the top of the list! But they weren't there... :( I ended up taking a picture of the empty pen anyway:

We actually did see them later on. They were cooped up in some pen way off in the distance! Hiding from us... I didn't think you could really hide an elephant like that... but I suppose if they're not where you're looking it's pretty easy.

Workin' Hard!

Howdy, howdy, howdy! It's been a bit... but that is because I have been moving! And starting jobs! Hooray! I work a full workday... so I'm a bit sleepy now. Just got home, actually. Plus, Georgia is like the sun in terms of heatitude... so I get even more sleepy! I could just nap right now...

Oh, so I get there and they give us breakfast AND lunch! Turns out as one of the last few interns to arrive, they decided to give us a proper orientation. What a great way to start the job! And after that I actually started working. Just entering images into the database for the first week... but everyone's gotta start somewhere! And it helps everyone out.

Also! Everyone there is so cool! The guy who trains me is super into video games... and so is his wife! We ended up talking about E3, the new 3DS and 360, and other random stuff for a good chunk of my time there.

... Getting tired...

Anyway, here's some goofy, grainy (real) pictures of me showcasing my super cool work ID card that actually lets me into places! I'm so cool... They're so cool!

I Say! Tea!

While I was in Savannah, my mom and I went to a local coffee shop, the Sentient Bean. It's really nice there! Super artsy environment and stuff... though kinda expensive. Anyways, while we were there, I noticed that all of their teas had fun labels on them... shoulda written 'em all down 'cos I totally forgot them... but the one that made me almost spit out my weirdly green (but tasty!) smoothie was "Earl Great!" I got so super inspired that I scribbled a doodle on a nearby coffee holder thingy.

I felt so artsy when I finished!

Yeah, I kinda like it! I think it'd be fun to draw it up all finished-like and make a real tea label out of it! Of course Sentient Bean would get dibs... if I even have time to do it, that is.

Yaaaaaaay! Big things are happening! BIG THINGS. Like... Movement. I'm moving. Why? 'Cos I got the Carter's job! I'm so happy I'm FREAKIN' OUT!

Got the call a few days ago. I was kinda asleep (lol) so it took me a bit to get up to full excitement. Well, I'm totally there now! With school over with, I now have more time to focus on what's coming up next... instead of that 8 page paper =.= Plus, they sent me this ultra cute ducky!

It's a rattle! So cuuuute!

So, yes! I will be all moved in with a family friend by June 21st (ahhhhhh so soon!) 'cos that's when I start lol Man... It still seems unreal... but I'm still happy!

Pompy Circumstance!

I've graduated :D Hooray! I am now a graduate! I wear my tassel on the left side...

My hat was a little small. Had to get an extra-large for my extra large hair!

I also graduated with honors! :O I think? Didn't get my final grades yet... but the jumbo-screen said I had honors and I got a golden tassel so that's what matters.

It was really nice to see everyone, especially my teachers! I miss them so much... they're really awesome! We're friends on Facebook, though. One of them even got me into playing Fishville... XD

So, yup! That's where I've been! But I'm home now... for a few weeks anyway :O

30 Years of Pacman!

Today is Pacman's birthday! Well, technically it's the 30th anniversary of the game... but I think that still counts! I mean, he's getting presents!

Google made a really cool one! (It's their homepage!)

It really works, too! You can even play two-player! (found out about it from Gizmodo)

So... What'll I do to celebrate? Besides playing it, I'll make a present too!

Man... DeviantArt can really make you get a big head. People compliment your stuff! A lot! The Tamagotchi girl I posted... I got some really great comments on it! From people I admire! :O

My head got so big and full of hot air... that it floated off and turned into a Drifblim!

Actually, I think I'm actually more of a Drifloon. Why? 'Cos I'm tiny, weird... and kinda useless. XD

They already have cloud afros! It's like it was destiny.

Y'know, Drifloon and Drifblim have been my favorite Pokemon since I first saw them... but I never thought of drawing myself as one! 'Til now :D

Sugar Ninjas: Sweet and Spicy!

Today, I d'no what to write so I'll show you what I'm working on! Remember the Sugar Ninjas? I wrote about it in an earlier post... All girls anthology with two books, Sweet and Spicy! Ever since I heard about it, I thought it sounded like a great idea for characters! So I drew them!

I feels different from the usual stuff but I'm pretty pleased with it so far!

I'll be trying to finish them up in Illustrator again... I sure hope everything turns out as cool as the sketch! Oh, also, last week Design-A-Character had a buddy challenge (which I missed). Design a character and then make a buddy for them.

Banana Waffuls!

I decided to make some waffles with my mom on Sunday and we doubly decided... Banana Waffles! I got the recipe from the Hungry Housewife so maybe it'll make sense... unlike my last cooking post.

Banana Waffles!

1 3/4 cups Flour

2 tsp Baking Powder

1 1/2 tbsp Sugar

1/2 tsp Salt

1/4 tsp Baking Soda

3 Eggs

2 sticks Butter, melted

1 1/2 cups Buttermilk

I actually used pancake mix from a box... so if you're like me, this is all you need:

1 Tbsp Cinnamon

1 pinch of Freshly Grated Nutmeg

1/2 tbsp Vanilla

3 Ripe Bananas, chopped

1/2 cup Pecans, toasted and chopped (optional)

"Add the wet ingredients (including bananas) into the dry ingredients and stir... but don't over stir. It is good to have lumps. Fold in the pecans. Cook according to your waffle iron directions. Top with sliced bananas and chopped pecans if desired!"

Even without the banana it's good! We only had one banana so some were made with just nutmeg, vanilla and cinnamon. Oh, and if you don't have fresh nutmeg, use a little more. Fresh nutmeg is really strong so a pinch is plenty! Ground nutmeg from the store, not so much. Also, this tip is awesome:

"Make an extra batch of waffles or pancakes, freeze them(with sheets of wax paper in between each one) and then you can pull them out of the freezer in the a.m. and they can have homemade waffles everyday!"

I used to follow this guy, Chris Grine at the Shoebox Blog, 'cos he decided to make three robots a week for a year. Well, I checked back and he's kept it up!

I mean, come on. How great is that? SO GREAT.

I'm partly doing this so that you pay less attention to this picture of me... It's how my hair looks now. Pretty snazzy :) But the Mr. T-bot is more important.

Carter's Event: The Result!

It went great! Seriously, everyone there was sooooooo super nice that I stopped being nervous! Completely! We had balloons and stuff welcoming us... and AWESOME food. The office was super cool, too! Very open... And they had the CUTEST clothes and patterns everywhere! Duh, they make baby clothes for a living, but I'm tellin' you... I was staring at this one little dress so hard, calculating whether or not I could actually fit in it.

There's no way... but I think I love it...

So, anyway, I'll try to keep the rest short... ish. The interview went well, too! They liked my characters a lot, but the patterns were a bit weak (except for th' toucan one! they're all here if you forgot already). It's expected since I've never made a pattern before... but yay for the rest of that! There was also a test on Illustrator to see how much you know about it...

Man, it's just such a nice place... I think I'd do well there, especially 'cos they're looking for innovative people with potential. I really hope I get it!

P.S. I'm pretty pleased with that doodle! I did it entirely digital (Flash), instead of scanning a pencil sketch and tracing. :D Also, I got my hair done a little differently for the event, hence the curls!

Carter's Event! With ME!

Oh man! I didn't write about it on here! Though, considering the people who read this, you probably already know. Whatever, it's awesome!

I've been super busy (and sick) these past few days... because last Thursday I got a super sudden random e-mail from Carter's saying that they'd like me to come to their internship event! Which means they're considering me for their art internship! Hooray! It's in Atlanta, GA but they're flying me down and putting me up in the Four Seasons! Tomorrow! EXCITEMENT.

But that doesn't explain the busy-ness, you say? Well, well, it turns out that all prospective art interns have to complete a project so they can gauge your style and stuff. 10-15 character designs and 6 patterns... Yeah, I freaked! I was given less than a week to do it and was too sick the first two days... so... I ended up doing almost all of it today and last night. BUT ANYWAY I'M DONE! Just got them printed I'm awfully pleased with them. I hope Carter's is as pleased as I am.

Super (Paper) Mario 128!

Oh, hoh! I finished something!

Someone on DeviantArt was looking for people to draw Mario. 128 people to be exact! All the slots were filled and the deadline was supposed to have been the end of March... but with that many people, it'd be a miracle if there weren't any flakes. And it wasn't! So I got to do it last minute! I mean, after hours lol I only found out about it last week XD

Hooray!

It accidentally turned into Super Paper Mario when I added the outline... but I think I like it better that way XD I was just worried he would fade into the background (since I wasn't sure what they would be doing with it) and it happened! Oh well... I'm pleased with it! And it was accepted just fine as #126!

I'd actually wanted to do Tanooki Mario flying around and stuff! But DogmanSP (the coordinator) specifically requested that it be a simple pose with feet flat on the ground. Maybe next time :)

Sugar Ninjas!

I'm a part of it! I'll be a part of it! A part of what? SUGAR NINJAS VOLUME TWO~

Sugar Ninjas is a super awesome anthology one of my old teachers put together. No boys allowed! It's just for girls! I thought they just wanted comics but turns out they're lookin' for all kinds of stuff! There's two books, the Sweet book (family-friendly) and the Spicy book (not so friendly). Sweet book here I come!

They wanted us to have a little blurb about ourselves on their website so I fixed up one of my doodles to use as a bio pic :D

Ah, I'm so happy in that... Well, I'm so happy to be a part of something! I had to make all my images grayscale (which was crazy) and horizontal (which was double crazy). It felt so wrong~ taking all the color out... but that's ok! It's in the book and I'm so super excited! They say it should be on sale May 30th or so... so I'll post again when it is! In the meantime, Sugar Ninjas volume one is up for sale on Lulu if you're interested!

Creepier still, in the special features, they had an animatic of a proposed scene where she's daydreaming... that she breathes butterflies! And they melt everything they touch! And she grows 20 feet tall! And shoots laser beams out of her eyes! And eats all the other characters!

Eesh. Talk about nightmare fodder...

Theme Challenge: Rococorobo!

Remember the Shape Challenge I did for Design-A-Character? They actually put up new ones each week and recently I've been super stoked for 'em (yes, surfer lingo is acceptable... for the moment) even though I've yet to finish one completely! I posted some of the sketches on Twitter and of course my DeviantArt page, but this one I'm super proud of for multiple reasons so I'll put it here, too!

Reasons I am super proud of it:
1. I've finally stopped failing so hard at Flash. I'm still failing but only a bit.
2. I now have a GREAT idea for an illustration
3. The designs look kinda awesome :P

For the March Theme Challenge, the guy chose the rococo period (18th century France. Y'know, ballgowns and powdered wigs?). So I did some roughy sketches...

Rococorobo! And a rococo chick.

So, my awesome idea is to recreate a super famous rococo painting, The Swing by Jean-Honoré Fragonard, with ROBOTS.

Yeah~ That's the one. That'd be cool!

Oh... OH... OHHHHHHHHH. I got a phone call today... a company likes my animation! (Remember the E-Card I did for Fisher Price? It's on the arty blog [which finally has a design!!! Check it out~]) But, yes! Company! They'd like me to animate something for them! How crazy is that? WAY CRAZY. Especially 'cos I'd only put the Flash onto my school's job search website yesterday! They said that they liked mine better than the other ones they saw. WAY CRAZY.

Then, they asked if I could also do branding and web design. YES! Yes thrice over! Ah! I'm just so shocked and amazed I don't even know what to do! So I'll freak out. Run in tiny circles 'til I get tired.

Wellp, my final is coming up in Anthropology so I'm gonna get to work on it tomorrow... and I figured since I'd be working on it, why not stream it! Yes, indeed. Tomorrow at 5:00 PM, I'm gonna be streaming my entire digital process from start to finish on UStream! (My screen name's robosuplex, of course) I've never done this before so I'm not entirely sure how it'll turn out... but if you have any questions about Illustrator or something, you're more than welcome to ask on the chat! You could also just swing by to say howdy? I don't mind. I just hope I don't start singing in front of the internet lol

By the way, this is a super rough sketch for the anthropology project:

Ah! I missed it! It was yesterday! How could I have missed it!

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY DR. SEUSS!

There's pictures, sculptures, "secret works" (oooh!) and a doodle! All after the jump!

He's so great. You know who he is, right? Political cartoonist, children's book illustrator, and super awesome dude!

I love his color schemes, the weird shapes and fur and how everything's all swirly and topsy turvy! Oh, look! What a great example of this:

This piece was in the "secret works" section on the Art of Dr. Seuss site... and I love it! It's so different from what he's know for yet the same, he's so cool~

Did you know he actually created creatures too? Made up his own bit of taxidermy. His father worked at the zoo so he collected antlers and horns and made sculptures out of them!

That one's called a Wholgast!

And a Sawfish!

I actually saw those! I happened upon an art gallery downtown that actually had a bunch of his stuff! It was way cool! You can see more, too, at Art of Dr. Seuss and buy them for 'bout $3,000 each :o

You know, the two movie adaptations, Horton Hears a Who and How the Grinch Stole Christmas, were actually not that bad. The special features really analyzed his work and you ended up learning quite a bit about Dr. Seuss and his style because they tried really hard to capture the essence of the books and create something that he would be happy with if he were still alive. So... renting one of them could be good one day?

I got so inspired after watching Horton Hears a Who that I tried to draw a Seuss-y me... D'no if it worked 100%... but that's ok! I colored it anyway 'cos it seemed like the right thing to do.

It's the thought that counts.

I want to tell you about my pajammies! I used to have big, blue flannel ones, a size large in men's, that I bought 'cos of my surgery. I figured it'd be easy to get in and out of 'em... and I grew to love them! But... I spose they did need to be switched out... so I bought new ones! They're the same sorta design but they're actually made for girls... and look like they have sprinkles all over them!

When I wear them I feel like a cupcake... or some ice cream.

They make me happy! (That's a teddy bear wearing some too)

Pen'scapades!

I wanted to draw in my sketchbook but all I had was a pen! Oh no...

And then this happened! Oh yes!

I drew that guy in the upper left first, a caricature of someone on the train... and then I was so excited and pleased with how it came out I drew the Pen Master me! Because I am the master of the pen!!!

And then I drew two versions of me at the bottom... one wearing nice, age-appropriate clothes and one wearing all the fun, kiddy stuff that I would wear if I lacked discipline.

You see, my friend's nephew, who was about 5, thought that this holiday was really called Vampire's Day! Well, I thought it was funny >.> Plus, it's much easier to celebrate! All you have to do is go "BLEH!" at someone and show them a picture of a vampire! Maybe... I haven't quite thought it out yet.

City of Heroes

Oh man. I played City of Heroes not too long ago... the free two week trial anyway lol I s'pose you can call me stingy but I just can't justify paying every month for a video game. Well, I thought I'd try it since it's something different! It's not the usual mage/cleric/warrior stuff in MMOs, it was super heroes! Friggin' super heroes! And you can fly around and look cool. Sure, other games let you fly, but, but... it's just not the same AS BEING A SUPER HERO!

It was kinda fun 'cos instead of fighting goblins or something, you went around beating up baddies. Like, someone was getting mugged on the street and you could either go help them... or not. And when you're done smackin' 'em around, they come up to you and go "Golly gee, you're the greatest for helping me!"I d'no... I just really liked being able to help people all the time :)

Anyway, my two week trial is finished :( but I took pictures of my characters! That's the other reason I liked it so much! Customization~ It's not super duper customizable but it's pretty close for when it came out. And you can make backstories! And choose the powers! So this is what I came up with:

As her name suggests, she's got radioactive powers >O but they're given to her through the gloves and boots she's got! Technology powers! I had this whole story about how she was just a country bumpkin who was good at science... and her teacher thought she was really smart but then he died... and he gave his entire facility to her! 'Cos he was... cool? I d'no, I forget. Anyway, there's more and I drew all of them... After the jump!

Pretty Pretty Princess is a princess who has magic and has decided to fight to save her people! Or something... I forgot this one too. I just wanted to make a character that was as pink and girly as possible. :P

You could also make a villain! And so I made one, just to try it. I didn't like being evil much... but I sure liked the character design!

Roborama!

Accidentally cropped her name... Well, she's a young inventor, only 16 years old, and nobody takes her seriously because of it. So, she decided to make a robot army and take over the world! THAT'S RIGHT. In this game you can control an entire army of robots! Or ninjas. But robots are the better choice. She controls them with her arm thingies. And apparently a giant button. D'no why I drew that in but I like it.

So, yes! Gobs of fun! ... And I do almost want to pay but I can't bring myself to sink so much money into a game. But I really had a lot of fun...

I wish for the free trial of Champions Online! (It's made by the same people but better graphics and all)

I joined DeviantArt last month... I thought it was poop for the longest time but then I started finding really talented people on it! Plus, people are always super encouraging!

Well, anyway, I joined a group there! Design-A-Character! They have a shape challenge each week where they give you a buncha shapes and you design a character from it!

SNOWMAGEDDON!

I d'no if you've heard about this, but there' a super serious ultra giganto blizzard all over the east coast (of America~) Record breaking snow! There's so much! Almost 3 feet! FEET! It's ridiculous...ly awesome! There was a mass snowball fight in D.C. too! I wasn't there... but still! Here's a video:

I decided that I'd make a snowman to commemorate this ever so momentous event... and it turned into a sno-bot!

But then my robo-love kicked in and it was transformed into something awesomer! I actually had to carve both of these out of the snow. It was too powdery to build it up normally...

What is a Suplex?

I found out that not a whole lot of people actually know what a suplex is! So, let me explain. Well, I'll let Wikipedia explain.

A suplex is:
an offensive move used in professional sport wrestling (show wrestling). The move consists of one wrestler picking up his or her opponent off the ground (or mat) and then using a large portion of his or her own body weight to drive the opponent down on the mat.

And now, Green Steel and the Golden Boy (my robo wrestlers) will star in their very own wrestling diagram!

Follow this guide and you'll be a suplex master in no time!

Robo Suplex Smackdown!

If you didn't know, a suplex is a wrestling move (I've actually drawn a tutorial on how to do it)! Since my whole identity (website, logo, that sorta thing) has to do with robots and wrestling, I thought up a bunch of robot wrestlers! I'm planning on printing out trading cards of them and putting them up for sale on Etsy... when I have money.

I've got a Facebook page for it, too: Robo Suplex Smackdown!

It's the homepage for the R.L.L.F. (Robo Lucha Libre Federation) and I'm the referee! 'Cos I made it up. It's a lot of fun, making up things like this, but it's also hard! I'm not the best writer and I tend to ramble...

Oh, and lucha libre is spanish wrestling. All the wrestlers, called luchadors, wear masks. And sometimes have capes! There's good guys and bad guys and it's pretty cool!

Anyway, this would be insanely long if I posted them all now so I'll do it tomorrow!

Museums Can Be Way Cool!

I forgot about this! Took this picture in the National Gallery of Art. I think that's the one... >.> Anyway, they have a super amazing tunnel full of LEDs and they go back and forth in this kinda random pattern. I feel like I'm traveling through time! Or going into hyperdrive! It connects the half of the museum with old art with the other half that has modern art. Cool, right? :D

So, anyway, I've gone through the super amazing tunnel a couple of times before but never like this! At the gift shop, they had these glasses with a film on 'em... the ones that refract light and turn every lightbulb into 10 rainbows? Those! I bought a pair and went back through it... SO SPARKLY!

I was so amazed...

Just imagine that... but with each one of them sparkling! Like rainbow stars! I bet you'd be amazed too!

It's one of the few pictures that I actually like of me... so I thought I'd share it! :)

Cooking! Herb Lemon Pasta Style

Hey look! I cooked!

Now, I'm not the best cook... but I figured I might as well put up this easy peasy recipe! 'Cos it tasted pretty good and I made it up and I'm proud...

Herb Lemon Pasta!

Ingredients:
Pasta - A handful uncooked spaghetti = 1 serving :)
Vegetables (carrots, onion, mushroom, anything, really...) - As much as you think you can eat :D
Herbs (cilantro, basil, stuff like that!) - A few shakes~
Garlic - A little bit
Lemon Juice - A coupla squirts!
Olive Oil - Enough to keep stuff from burning?
Salt and Pepper - To taste

Directions:
Cook the pasta! That means boil up some salted water and drop the pasta in there. It should take around 11 minutes... but the box knows what's best. Then let it drain... and leave it there! Take the pot and use it for the veggies!

Put oil in the pot on medium low heat... and drop in the veggies that'll take the longest to cook first! Onions, broccoli, carrots, those kinds of things. Wait a couple minutes, then put in the quick cooking things like mushrooms. And the garlic! That way it all cooks up right :)

After a couple more minutes, turn the heat down to low and dump in the cooked pasta. Toss it around in the olive oil and put the pepper and herbs and lemon juice on it. I wouldn't put more salt in now 'cos the pasta soaked up the salt in the water when it was cooking... but if you love iodine, go for it!

And~ then you eat it! :D THE END!

Ok... so maybe that wasn't the best recipe ever. Well, I'm new to the recipe writing scene! It's hard to put measurements to stuff you guessed at last night. Though... the whole unmeasured-ness is prolly why I ended up with more onion than pasta...

But it was still good!

Hm... I had another idea! Maybe... Maybe! Maybe... I could use twitter to put up my daily sketches (that are super quick/don't have a story to go with 'em) and keep this blog for only the best and most interesting! That makes sense, I think... Yeh. Yeh! It totally does! And then I'll put a twitter thing in my sidebar! Y'know, I never knew what to use twitter for... but I guess I do now! :D Ooh! And then, every week, I'll compile all th' tweety things and stuff! Or not. D'no. Anyway! A new thing to try out! (New for me... I'm so behind. Like an old fogey! :P)

But now I'm tweeting doodles!

That's done in Flash! I found another artist that did vector work... Kei Phillips! She uses Flash and it looks just like Illustrator! :O So I decided I'd try it out, see what's different... So far, I definitely like it for quick sketches but I'm a bit awkward in it for polished stuff. We'll see how it goes~

Y'know what the song's actually about? Love. And not how much they love donuts either! I was kinda mad when I found out (being thoroughly unfluent in Japanese) 'cos I was really hoping it'd really be about donuts! So much so that I erased the translation from my mind and made up a new one:

One day I found a sweet donut.

It was super cool and high in calories.

And then I ate it.

Of course, it'd be more fleshed out. As it stands it''s a pretty short song (with my translation)... but that's the proper subject matter! I bet the rest of their songs have misleading titles too... but I've learned my lesson. I won't go lookin' up lyrics all willy nilly!

Oh! Ok, I'll admit didn't know where I was going when I started writing this post... but now I do! Yeah... For Christmas (and birthday), Octorox gave me THE HARVEST MOON SUNSHINE ISLANDS PREORDER ITEM.

LOOK AT IT. Bask in the glory of it's adorableness...

Gosh, it's so great! The little ribbon~ that won't come off but that's fine 'cos I'd prolly lose it. Tiny ears~ A squishy soft body~ The tail is all curly too but (this'll blow your mind), it's not sewn up to make it curly! It's actually curly! You can pull it and it'll spring back all *boing*-like! AMAZING. Thank you Octorox!

Hm. I think my doodle piggy has been outdone by squishy piggy in cuteness... but it's so cute I don't mind!

Big Hair!

I usually comb my hair ONLY if I've washed it or gotten it thoroughly wet... 'cos otherwise dangerous things might happen! Or so I've heard. I mean, it stays nice and mostly un-knotty 'til the next time I wash/dump water on it... but, this time I decided to find out exactly which dangerous things would be waiting for me...

Turns out, it makes my hair into a GIANT AFRO.

It is ever so much huger than my normal hair! Amazing! I am both amazed and boasting about it.

Usually, my normal hair has a bit of a curl to it... I mean, it isn't a stereotypical afro but it also isn't big ol' curls that looks like I set it with rollers every night. It's in between... sorta. It makes people want to touch my head, though.

Anyways, when I combed it out WITHOUT WASHING IT... I get super tiny curls! It looks like a regular afro from afar but, when you get up close you can see teeny little ringlets. I d'no if I like it... Well, I don't dislike it? That's a start, at least. It's also very soft :) Well, it's soft normally but this is a different kinda soft.

Y'know, I actually d'no why I'm boasting in the doodle...

CLOUDY MEATBALLS!

I am freaking out. I am freaking out so much! Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is like... super amazing! I bought it yesterday... with the help of my friend, of course :P Two disc Super-Sized edition! Yes!

Well, the Super-Sized edition was a bit lacking... Not very super. They had some interesting stuff in it but it was awfully short. I wanted more! I went a-googling... and found all sorts of amazing things that made me go:

Gosh I love this movie and I love the art even more. Y'know, there were these posters in the main character's room... If they were prints I would buy them in a heartbeat! I mean, one of 'ems Tesla playing a lightning bolt like a guitar! Man, I wish I could find it for you...

Who's Mary Blair, you ask? Why, she's just the most awesomest arty lady ever. Well, I think so!

She made all sorts of concept art for Disney, back before there was really a concept art section! Worked on Peter Pan, Cinderella, and Alice in Wonderland. And that Little House one!

(D'no if I can find any Peter Pan ones... but still! Awesome!)

She did graphic design for all sorts of companies afterwards and made children's books too! She's so amazing with colors... did it all with gouache! I wanna do that too... I'm so jealous!

So, yes, she is a Disney Legend. Seriously! That's the actual title they gave her!

Watercoloring!

I got a super sweet travel watercolor set for Christmas!

See? It's so tiny! And the metal thing's the brush (you take it apart and flip it around... way cool!).

Hadn't even asked for it... but I'm sure glad I got it. I've been trying to think up a new way to sketch since last quarter. One of my teachers pointed out that my sketches don't look much like the final project 'cos, well, it was all lines but I color with shape. Some of my classmates said it too! They had no idea the project would turn out the way it did... I mean, in a good way but still! That's not what you want as a professional freelance-y illustrator!

When you have a client, you want to give them an idea of what the finished product will look like... so they don't end up hating it. Pencil to Illustrator can work alright, they'd still get the general gist of what I would do... but I thought maybe I should try something different. Something closer to the final.

So, I bought some markers! ... It ended in tragedy. Then I got this Christmas present! And I just tried it out!

Hooray!

Not too bad. It took a while but maybe it'll go faster when I get better! I've worked with watercolor before but not like this. I really liked it though. And I still do! Y'know, it's actually a very forgiving medium... and since I'm not all that good with it yet, that's a great thing.

Y'know, I think gouache might be better for this sorta stuff... Mary Blair used it and I really like her. It's exactly what I'm going for. But I don't have any and also I don't trust it! Definitely not as forgiving. At least, it wasn't when I was working with it...

So, there ya go! I'll be watercoloring on and off from now on.

Zoo-Time!

Hi, hi! As you can see, I'm still renovating but I thought I'd take the time to tell you about my escapade! TO THE ZOO! The National Zoo to be specific!

It was so very super cool! In a couple ways, actually. One was I saw bunches of animals! The other one was IT WAS COLD. The wind was awfully bitey and it made my face hurt a bit... but there were lots of exhibits inside so that was great! I took some pictures with my phone. They aren't very great because my phone isn't very great... but they're better than nothing!

Also, I've found out how to make jump breaks! So~ whenever there's a post with loads of photos (like this one) there'll be a break so the blog isn't a bajillion miles long! How convenient!

Here is another panda! They seem to be very sleepy... There was one that was gnawing an awful lot of bamboo but I seem to have lost the picture! :( He was really goin' at it, though!

This is a red panda! He is very great! I really liked him. There were two, actually! Both were amazingly cute!

The zoo really liked its pandas. It had its very own panda gift shop! I kinda thought about what it'd be like to roll around in all of them... it's not like I want to roll around in super endangered animals... just a giant pile of cushy toys seems like great fun and, well, they were there!

Look at this! My 100th post! And it's full of importance, yes it is. It's announcing that... I posted something! 'Cos I haven't posted here in ages! And... it's announcing that... I'll be getting a new website soonish! By the end of this quarter for certain! And it'll be up... but then I'll have a new blog... Will I keep this one? Or willn't I... Website blog should be super serious, shouldn't it? Yeah. It should... I think... Which meeeeeeans...

Well, I decided to cook pancakes this morning... and I remembered I have cookie cutters! So I made cookie cutter pancakes!

They turned out pretty good I think! Especially for not oiling the cookie cutters... They got stuck a bit. Also, I tried a new recipe: oatmeal pancakes! I don't like then as much as regular pancakes but they're still pretty good! I have no idea what I did... so I can't tell you the recipe... but yeah! It was fun! And I didn't get a tummy ache or anything!

Fatty Fat Fatty!

When I was walking around the other day, I saw a bird that was so fat~ It was so fat! It tried to fly away but it was so fat! It had trouble staying up. I mean, it had to try really hard, with all it's might to get up to the roof of the nearby building.
It was close to the building too so it was a straight shot! It didn't have to fly far... it just had to battle it out with gravity. I wasn't sure it'd make it...

And no, it wasn't just the kind of bird. There were plenty of other thin birds hopping around.

I think it ate all the food. I've seen that before when I tried to feed some birds. The fatty birds are super aggressive!

Even so, I think the fat ones are my favorite!

M... My Hair...

I got it cut... but, you see, they cut it very thoroughly. I'd been getting treatments on it to make it straight since... I don't even know. Gotta thank Mom for that! However, the treatments were not so good for my hair and they hurt to get it done! Besides, I've been too lazy to straighten it since I got to college. So, unbeknownst to me, the hairdresser decided she'd just... stop it. Like I said, my hair had been acting strange these past few months... but if that's why I don't mind one bit! Ah... she was planning on gradually cutting off the straight bits, too. That's also quite reasonable! Then she said she really wanted to get rid of all the straight bits today 'cos fresh start! Uh... I guess? ... Didn't realize how much of my hair was made of straight bits. Turns out most of it! So... she ended up cutting it very thoroughly.

I'm not showing you. I'm not even drawing it! Instead, I will draw a question mark:

No, I'm not bald, but I'm not showing you what it looks like either!
Just know that it was cut... thoroughly.

And I am unhappy with it.

I feel like I can't wear my floofy dresses without looking weird! And I look all tomboyish. I'm pretty sure I'm not tomboyish... Well, not this way. I'm not a sports tomboy! Quite the opposite, I'd say. I just sit around all day and that's awesome in my book!

Kinda Expected Update

Ah, yes. Finals. I don't really feel stressed... I should, considering how much slacking I've been doing, but I'm not. Oh, but today we presented our storyboards to the class! We had to do two... I'll put them up on my sketchbook when I get the chance. The first was a group project, redo of Wizard of Oz, and the second was for our personal project. After the group project, our teacher comes in with a video camera. He filmed us presenting our personal projects... Guh... Also, it's hot. Double Guh.

Well, it's been quite a while and Fisher-Price hasn't called me... so I'll just take that as a no. But, it made me realize how much I want to work there! So! I've decided that I'll just keep reapplying... a lot. Every quarter... 'cept for Fall 'cos I have class down here again.

Ah well... Time to start packing.

Eh. Hm. And Unexpected Update Updates!

I was kinda in a bad mood... but I'm not really anymore. Just tired... I was gonna make it brief but I just had too much to say. Oh, well.

Firstly, I made an animation to thank Fisher-Price for interviewing me. My very first proper animation! It's on my portfolio so go take a gander.

Oh, I should have told you about the interview before that...

Extra-firstly, the interview seemed to go pretty well! I had trouble answering some questions. I tried to prepare for them but it's hard to predict it all, y'know? However, the ones I could answer I answered super well! And they brought up my book all on their own! They'd actually fully read it on the blog! Later on they actually pulled up the blog and had me walk them through all the pieces on there. I reeeeeeally wasn't prepared for that. But I heard them say to each other the animals for the kid's menu were cute!

Also, look at how awesome their new Power Wheels thing is!

That's what I'm riding in the animation. It really roars and the eyes light up!

Apparently they get to play with toys all the time! Including Power Wheels! You see, Content Art is awesome. They do everything. They test stuff and make presentations and do animations and box art and of course boring filing but there's always something new! I asked them if it was like that and they said:

"No, not always... Sometimes you're stuck doing the same thing for four weeks."

Four weeks? I mean, especially compared to super serious jobs where you do the same thing for... FOREVER! It's so cool...

GOWAHHHHHHH! UNEXPECTED UPDATE!

This is what happened now:

I got an e-mail back! They said I'm going to speak with a lady "and team" on Thursday at 4... and then at 4:45 I speak with the lady who originally contacted me for a "HR interview". I didn't know what that was so I looked it up. Human Resources... Still not quite sure what it is. Apparently it's dreaded! Oh no~

Also, I have to fill out and scan in an application beforehand! ... Goshers! This is a lot happening very fast! I'm turning to the internet and friends with more experience for help! And my mom. Oh, and there's a girl in my class who says a friend of her works there so she'll ask him some questions for me! How nice! ... I'm going to write about her in a bit 'cos she's insanely awesome.

But yeah... I've never done any of this before. Well, I filled out an application once but I don't remember it really and there was no interview. Very short part time job. I'd love to schedule an appointment with the school's career advisor for more help but I can't seem to find mine! He only takes appointments if you sign up for them on this sheet somewhere in the Illustration building that's only out there for a certain time period on certain days. Very difficult.

The thing that scares me the most is the "team" that'll be there for the interview. I have NO idea what that is or who they are or what they'll do. Also, that's multiple people. Eep! I just hope I don't mess things up. I mean, of course I won't freak out on them! I'm just a bit bad with words sometimes. It's hard to find the ones I want to use. Hm... Well, maybe with some coaching and research I can get the answers straight beforehand!

Update: Oh man... I've been sent the schedule for the interview. The "team is the current content artists: Project Content Artist and two Senior Content Artists. The lady who left the message is a recruiter and the other lady is Senior Manager Content Artist. So, the first call will be ALL FOUR CONTENT ARTISTS! The second will be the human resources interview with the recruiter. Guuuuuuh... Now I'm reeeeeally scared.

I wonder what I did to impress them... 'cos I have no idea! I thought my resume was pretty bad with my no-work experience. Ah... I'm overloaded with the random awesomeness of it all.

Oh, oh my! I... today! Today I got a phone call! It was... a little early (9:30 AM) for me so I didn't answer. They left a message, though! Kinda fuzzy since I was walking to class so I couldn't quite understand it at first. Listen to it again! She was talking about an art internship...?

They want to interview me over the phone! For the internship! How... unexpected!

AND AWESOME.

They're in New York, though. I d'no where I'll live or anything if I get it... but I suppose I'll cross that bridge when I come to it! Besides, look at all the benefits I get! A turkey! Half Fridays! But most importantly, I can play with their prototype toys!

So yes, Content Art Internship! I'm scared... I've actually never had an interview before... but excited for it!
